During Victorian and the Edwardian period
the night sheets and pillows were covered during
the day. Pillows would have stains from hair oils so
this piece was created to gently drape over the pillow
during the day. There is NO WAY to put the pillow
insert inside this sham. BUT with some sewing skills
this could be opened in the back. We believe this has
been re-lined with tiny hand stitched in the back in
a rayon over the original silk. Pillow front is silk with
blue embroidery and applique flowers. 2" ruffle
around the edges. Beautiful and in excellent
condition. We have several Victorian bed linens
in our Support Store.
